Alison Cross strives to bring words to life that drive action. Guided by a passion for honest and captivating journalism, Alison aims to uplift overlooked perspectives, establish trust, and create a tangible impact. Alison envisions a career exposing injustice, wherever it lies, as an investigative reporter.
A rising senior at the University of Connecticut, Alison is an honors student double majoring in journalism and sociology and minoring in women's gender and sexuality studies. Alison holds three positions at the UConn Daily Campus: staff writer (2020), copy editor (2021) and page designer (2021). When COVID-19 put the world on hold, Alison used it as an opportunity to pursue an unpaid internship at her hometown's only publication, The Monroe Sun (2020). This summer, Alison joined the Connecticut Health Investigative Team as the lead writer of the new section, "Generation Health" (2021). In this role, Alison covers health, wellness and safety for 18-40-year-olds and manages the I-Team Instagram account.
Alison is a communicative team player and creative problem solver. She prides herself on working well with both numbers and people. As a researcher, Alison is committed and independent. She completes tasks punctually, and if something piques her interest, Alison finds time to pursue new avenues to see where they lead. Alison is excited to explore new opportunities and advance her journalism career!
